A Metamorphic Idea

“I felt like I was cornered with no way out, and then an explosion happened, like a butterfly being set free from a cocoon,” a famous chef explained.  He finally morphed into the food scene with brazen success, but the testimonial was only compelling because of the personal struggles he endured."

Feeling cornered with no escape route or exit strategy has been the demise of many desperate souls who lost sight of the goal through repeated failures and ended the struggle with hopeless frustration.  

Soaring success normally comes at a great price and it’s the struggle that causes you to develop your ability to explode onto the scene and experience incredible movement towards the prize you dream about.

Jesus Christ was no exception.  His adversaries moved in for the kill to end His life and most importantly, His message. He was responsible for the spiritual revolution that threatened the old wineskins and upend the law.  It was a struggle as the Son of God was perpetually cornered with threats and demands.

His burial tomb served as a cocoon and the final struggle over sin and death would become the greatest story ever told.  The resurrection was Jesus’ soaring moment in history that would accelerate the birth of the early church and devoted believers that continue to rapidly multiply today.

Like butterflies, we are supposed to struggle.  In fact, a butterfly’s struggle to push its way through the tiny opening of the cocoon pushes the fluid out of its body and into its wings.  Without the struggle, the butterfly would never, ever fly.  

There needs to be an explosion in our faith.  The struggle is simply the launching pad, not to be minimized, but to be utilized for a way out.  It only takes a very small opening.

It’s a metamorphic idea. 

“This is why we work hard and continue to struggle, for our hope is in the living God, who is the Savior of all people and particularly of all believers.”
